I read recently that after a while on the surface, sperm whales take several deep breaths (their breathing makes that spectacular water spout) and then lifting their tail flukes high above the water, plunge more than a kilometre down to the sea floor, where they feed on squid. Forty-five minutes later they return to the surface for a gigantic gulp of fresh air.
There’s a parallel with the times when I read the Bible and go to worship because I’m reminded that there is another world beyond this one. As the whale needs to surface regularly to survive, so do I.
I tend to forget the reality which lies ahead of me one day when I shed this earthly shell & collect my new body. Death isn’t my enemy. Jesus has gone before me, already has His new body & has one waiting for me too.
